Hank Dogs
Hank Dogs
Hank Dogs are Piano (chief lyricist), Lily (daughter of a Slit & Andy
Hankdog - it's her camper van on the cover), Andy (bassist on The Sex
Pistols "Silly Thing" single & went onto play with Cook & Jones in The
Professionals) & Dixie (daughter of Andy & Piano) from south London.

They have been running the Easycome Acoustic night for a decade in Peckham Rye and arguably are the progenitors of the whole nu-acoustic or nu-folk movement with David Gray & many others treading the boards there.

Their debut album "Bareback" released on Joe Boyd's Hannibal Records in 1998 and was co-produced by him. He said "I've resisted signing anyone for a long time but I love this band so much I had to do it" and "The songs are unique and wonderful, the lyrics literate and vivid, the musicianship startling".

Others said of "Bareback":

"They wield a haunting mystery that is fascinatingly surreal and almost
imperceptibly ghosts into your psyche...You end up wondering if you're
being seduced by the devil" - Colin Irwin, Mojo

"Accessible and tuneful, this is a debut with depth" - Rob Beattie, Q

"The band's ethereal sound and disquieting material fits no obvious
musical parameters." - Music Week

"This is deft acoustic music with a rare, soulful ache and powerful
twisted beauty" - Time Out

They have toured with great success throughout the US & Europe with Joan Baez & Eliza Carthy.
